Fracking

Fracking is a process that extracts natural gas from seams/wells underground. This process is controversial, expensive, and has negative effects on the environment. However, because of fracking, natural gas is becoming the most used gas in the United States, and it powers millions of homes, industries, and businesses. Learn more about fracking here:

Frack Attack

The big companies say “drill” “drill” “drill”
But it’s not oil that’s at risk to spill
Since humans have discovered it, we can’t go back
All the energy investors chant “frack” “frack” “frack”

A methodical, lucrative process invented by G. Mitchell
The motivations for unlocking new technology purely fiscal
Since oil is drying up, the reserves of natural gas are in
It’s cheaper and burns cleaner than coal, but still has its sins

The process of fracking is quite straightforward and easy
Drill a hole, encase it in cement, then pump in the water icy
However, the water is not pure, untainted, and innocuous
It contains chemicals, sand, and other dangerous fuss

The gas is pumped out, but have caution and beware
Methane can leak out, and contaminate your water and air
But what is the solution to our immense energy needs?
We can’t live without it; it’s as vital as the air we breathe

Noise pollution, wildlife destruction, and GHG emissions are produced
But no one complains when we have ample, cheap electricity to use
Natural Gas needs to be cleaner and not stab our Earth in the back
If our methods of removal aren't modified, we will soon have a frack attack
